Kids Party Food - Easter Bunny / Rabbit Vanilla Pudding

I like cooking and baking with my son.
He is growing up and will be a teenager very soon.
But I think the sweet time we spent together on cooking must stay in his brain forever.
When he was about 4 years old, I made pudding with him.

We used the recipe as below:

Glutinous Rice Balls / No Bake Pop Cakes

Pop cakes are so pretty and popular in kids party.

But it is time consuming to bake cakes.

There is a more easy method to make that. Instead of baking cake, you just need to use Glutinous Rice.

Steps:

1. Mix 200g Glutinous Rice powder with water. Add water gradually until you can mix it with the water into smooth dough.

Note: 200g powder can make about 20 one-inch balls

2. Make the dough into balls.

3. Put the balls into boiled water. When they float on water, you can take them up.

Note: Try not to leave the balls in open air for a long time, or there will be cracks on the balls. If you cannot cook them immediately, cover them with wet tissue.

4. Put the cooked balls into cold water for cooling.

5. Put a few Glutinous Rice balls onto long sticks, or put one ball on a short stick each time.

Captain America Shield Cake for Daddy

Besides the rainbow color key holder, we also baked a cake for Daddy.

To be consistent, we tried to make a cake related to 'Hero'.

Finally, my son and I decided to make a Captain America Shield cake.

But.... how to decorate it?

I do not have much experience on decorating big cake.

So my son and I searched information on the web.

Wow! There is a lot of related cakes.

Though decorating the whole shield with cream seems more pretty, we both don't like red cream which looks like ....blood.

Thus, we decided to use fruit for decoration. This must be healthier.

Finally, we use white cream, blueberry, strawberry and some red sparkle gel for cake to decorate it.

For the cake top, we used 'You are our Hero!'

Below is the cake that we made. How do you think?

Kids Party Food - Halloween snack apples and candyfloss

In the Halloween party held on last Sunday, I had made a funny and healthy snack for kids.

That was the teeth made by apples and candyfloss!

I tried to make this because I thought that this was easy to make.

But I was wrong, this one required some techniques to make it well.

Most important, I had to find a way on preventing the apples turning brownish cos we would only eat the party food after playing games.

Thanks for Colors on the Wall (https://www.facebook.com/coloronthewallsetsy)! She taught me to sprinkle a little pineapples juice over the apples. The acid helps to prevent apples from turning brown.

This really works! I did that and the apples only turn a little brownish after two hour's game time.

When I cut the apples into slices, I found that cutting the apples horizontally, instead of vertically, could have lips in better round shapes. Because if you cut the apples vertically, the apple is wider on the top and narrower at the bottom. The lips shapes will look strange.

Originally, I thought that I could just use toothpicks at both ends of the teeth to fix the positions of the teeth. But I was wrong. When I did that, the teeth in the middle went in and out as the surface of the apple was wet and slippery.

Thus, finally, I used half toothpick to fix one tooth, and used two toothpicks to fix both sides of the mouth.

Fortunately, this looked great and the kids liked them!

How do you think about it??
